FALL 2018
collaboration project with Michael Lee and Finn Bradley
1/8”, 1/16” basswood sticks, rubber bands
A semester-long intuitive and analytical exploration of the nature of basic processes, material properties and the forms and structures which they generate. With major emphasis on geometry of architecture, students were asked to employ physical modeling to create such structures and theoretical analysis of basic structural systems in order to create a wearable garment composed from an active structural system.
WAVE is a movement-restricting garment made from a tensegrity fabric. Derived from a speculative set of abstracted wave drawings, WAVE explores how a singular icosahedral tensegrity unit can be aggregated linearly, then planarly, dealing with bifurcations, as well as modulating sizes of units.
